As you may know, the four founders of Zing Bars are all Bastyr University trained Registered Dietitians. We are serious about our nutrition – our food has got to taste good and give us a whopping dose of nutrients too. That’s the philosophy we use for ourselves and for our patients – the people for whom we developed our bars.
One of our favorite groups of patients to work with is women dealing with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (also known as PCOS). If you have never heard of PCOS, you may be surprised to learn that an estimated 1 in 10 women suffer from this syndrome. It is a lifelong condition and is the leading cause of infertility in women. Women with PCOS deal with many ongoing symptoms and also have an increased risk of conditions like Type 2 diabetes, endometrial cancer and heart disease.
We have sat in our offices with so many of these women who typically work really hard to manage their condition through nutrition, exercise and often medications as well. The nutritional profile of Zing Bars works very well for women with PCOS and they were one of the groups of people we had front and center in our minds when we developed the bars.
One of our close colleagues is an inspiring health professional, Monika Woolsey. We attended her seminars years before we created Zing and we have always relied on her for the most cutting edge resources for our patients with PCOS. Monika has a website www.afterthediet.com and a blog www.incyst.com. These are fantastic resources for healthcare professionals, women with PCOS (and those who love them) to check out.
Monika recently blogged on Zing Bars and you can read that blog by clicking here.
She also interviewed David Ingalls, our CEO and one of our founders and you can listen to that radio interview here.
Monika recently let us know about www.pcoschallenge.org and that got us really excited. PCOS Challenge is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting women with PCOS with resources and information. They have a 13 week TV series which follows the lives of 10 women with PCOS as they work on improving their health. Check out the links on their website so you can watch an episode.
We are committed to supporting women with PCOS and so Zing aligns perfectly with PCOS Challenge’s goals. So we decided to jump in and help!
Zing will be supporting PCOS Challenge with an e-coupon “PCOSChallenge” at www.zingbars.com
It’s a win-win for everyone. Our customers get 15% off their order and we give PCOS Challenge 10% from the transaction. The coupon expires March 31, 2011.
We want to support PCOS Challenge as much as we possibly can so please forward this coupon offer to friends, post it on your FaceBook status, Tweet about it…or just talk about it in that old fashioned verbal kind of way!
Here’s to Monika Woolsey and PCOS Challenge. And here’s to great health for all women dealing with PCOS!
