As we take time to appreciate the moms in our lives this Mother’s Day, we can’t help but notice how their contribution to our health and safety is amplified by the current pandemic. Now more than ever, mothers are the “essential” workers responding to their family’s growing needs. So, as we consider the many jobs mothers take on daily, let’s acknowledge and appreciate the impact that mothers have on all our lives—and how the current pandemic is making their tough job even more difficult.
Talk about a full plate—with restaurants closed and kids home full time, meal planning and prep is a part time job. With most schools closed, moms across the country are taking the lead with their children’s education. Add to this the extra care and much-needed emotional support for those kids stuck at home, all while working remotely and fending off the financial insecurity that rules the day for most everyone. Moms are addressing these needs as a matter of necessity—it’s like an instinct or reflex. And with the heightened insecurity and distraction of a pandemic, these added efforts to an already full plate often go unnoticed. This Mother’s Day, let’s give our moms the appreciation, relaxation, and love they deserve!
So if you’re a Dad, make this Mother’s Day something special. Cook her favorite meal, pitch in with her daily errands, plan an activity together, hang with the kids all day long (!) and above all, make sure she knows you are grateful for everything she does. If you are among the many of us who won’t be able to spend the day with our moms, send them a heartfelt note or have a video chat to express your love and concern.
From all of us at Zing, thank you to moms everywhere! Your love, dedication, and care help lay the foundation for so much more in our lives. We appreciate everything you do to support your family, especially in these times when everyone needs a lot more love and attention. Happy Mother’s Day!
